When working with individuals and couples, we collaborate on attainable goals and create treatment plans together. During this process, we pay attention to relationships in and out of the room. In these relationships we find many resources which help bring resolution and healing.

Individual counseling

Working with individuals has been my primary dynamic in therapy. Individuals may be experiencing various challenges (stressors, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, self harm or suicidal ideation). Identifying effective coping strategies, insights that elicits change, and acceptance needed to get out of suffering are objectives focused on during therapy. Coping strategies are presented and encouraged to be utilized and come from different modalities of therapy depending on what is needed (DBT and CBT for example). If a client as experienced trauma in their past that is currently effecting their present functioning, EMDR may be utilized to help identify negative core beliefs that are creating challenges.

Couples/relationship counseling

When two very different individuals come together and decide to become a couple, conflict naturally follows. Finding a great balance and the beauty of our differences strengthens our relationships. Working through difficult situations in ways that focus on the root problem contribute to the lasting effect of therapy.

In couples counseling, we first start by looking at each individual\'s history as well as the history of the relationship. Then together, find a goal to work towards. Throughout treatment, special attention will be placed on the relationship itself. Highlighting the importance of compromise and respect will benefit the therapeutic process.
